Back to School Bash, This Sunday: After a brief worship service, we will be celebrating our neighborhood students! We’re collecting backpacks to hand out and will also have food and games outside. Please plan to stay to help and to welcome people! Last year was our first Back to School Bash, and we had 45 backpacks and could have given away even more! You can still order backpacks online today (here, for instance) and have them delivered directly to the church (2018 S Braddock Ave, Pittsburgh PA 15218).
Ohiopyle day trip this Saturday (8/24) – Everyone is welcome!
Several PMCers are heading to Ohiopyle this Saturday for hanging out, hiking, and general outdoor fun. The weather is looking great – sunny and a balmy 77 degrees. We will meet at the Visitor Center (124 Main St, Ohiopyle, PA 15470) at 10am. Bring your sunscreen, bug spray, swimsuit, and lunch. Please let Rachel Dean or Billie Davis know if you are planning to join in so we don’t miss anyone on Saturday morning!
Have you registered for Retreat? On September 6, 7, and 8, PMC will be on retreat at Laurelville Mennonite Church Center in Mt. Pleasant. Registration is $10/person for those 12 years old and over. Sign up on Sunday or see Rachel Dean or Kathleen Good with questions.
Accommodations are covered for those staying in the lodge and camping. The lodge does not have private baths and you do need to bring your own linens. We also have rooms in the Solar House this year (private hotel rooms w/ linens included) for $73 per night.
Help Needed! We will need a few people to do grocery shopping and/or transport food and kitchen things from PMC to Laurelville. Please contact Kathleen at [email protected] if you can help – thank you!
On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 6:30pm, please join us at PMC to watch Paris to Pittsburgh, a new film from National Geographic.
This film is being offered through Interfaith Power and Light to draw faith communities together to inspire local community action to heal the climate for the benefit of all. From coastal cities to America’s heartland, Americans are demanding and developing real solutions in the face of climate change, and as the weather grows more deadly and destructive, they aren’t waiting on Washington to act. Learn about their incredible stories in Paris to Pittsburgh and be inspired to create change in our own community!
September 29 – Save the Date
We’re partnering with Union Baptist to support a blood drive at their building from 12-4 after worship on September 29. More information to come — or see Karli Smeiles with questions.
