Fresh takes on biblical themes through the intersection of humor and scripture!
The Puppet Team is made up of puppet lovers, writers, jokesters, creative types, and an entourage of 20 rod-arm puppets. The team writes and stages one sketch a month during Sunday morning worship. They are also called to perform for special events or particular church seasons.
Adults who are interested in writing scripts, performing, or helping create scenery can indicate these interests to a member of the Puppet Team. We are happy to include senior high students with approval from Education Commission. The Puppet Team meets Sunday mornings during Sunday School hour.
- Continue to create scripts that are child-focused but challenge or nudge at the adults, too.
- As the group of puppeteers expands, develop a rotating system of responsibility so that members have ample opportunities to practice, perform, and rest.
Roles within our group rotate month by month. We try to give everyone a chance to perform while also giving members space to take a month off, as needed.
Typically, in a given month, one person writes the sketch, one person ensures we have the required props, 3-4 members perform as puppeteers with one person assisting as stage crew / missed-line finder, and one person introduces the sketch and interacts with the children’s questions and comments.
Esther Harder is the leader of the puppet group.
