Winter Solstice Labyrinth
December 21 - 5:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
The labyrinth is a circular construction with one path guiding the walker from the entrance to the center, and then back to the entrance. Unlike a maze with its twists and turns, the labyrinth frees the mind to relax.
Come and walk the PMC labyrinth when the shortest day of light has faded into the longest night, the winter solstice, on December 21st. As you walk, meditate upon the darkness that comes before the light begins to grow each day. Come and go as you like while we have the labyrinth open.
With the weather cooling off, we will resume our normal Sunday schedule starting on August 27, meeting in the Sanctuary, with the prelude beginning at 10:15 and worship starting at 10:30. This Sunday is the Blessing of the Backpacks, when we invite students of all ages to participate in a special blessing to start off the school year, and it is also Pastor Dave Swanson’s first Sunday back at PMC since returning from his sabbatical. Please join us! (Sunday School will resume in September.)
On August 6, Pittsburgh Mennonite will gather for worship in Schenley Park. Join us at 10:00 at Overlook Shelter for a special musical service, and stay after to enjoy a potluck lunch! There will be no service at the church that morning. You can find directions here.
In order to beat the heat of the sanctuary this summer, we are moving Sunday worship downstairs to the Fellowship Hall and beginning half an hour earlier at 10:00. Please enter through the Dickson Street doors.
With Pastor Dave on sabbatical, Worship Commission is collaborating with a number of people who have volunteered to speak. The schedule for the summer services includes:
7/2 – Mary Schrag
7/9 – Writers’ Sunday: The Unsayable
7/16 – Joel Cannon
7/23 – Kayla Berkey
7/30 – Scott Holland
8/6 – Singing in the Park – **We will gather at Overlook Shelter in Schenley Park for worship, with potluck following
8/13 – Mag Richer Smith
8/20 – Lisa Sayre
Thanks to everyone who has been so generous with their time and efforts as we plan for this summer! It’s always interesting to hear different voices. Please join us each Sunday downstairs at 10:00 through August 20. Our normal schedule will resume in the fall.
