Exciting times! In addition to the outside work being done…
…there are a lot of repairs and renovations going on inside the church building to make our space more hospitable. In Sushil’s Kitchen, a commercial dishwasher has been installed and some accompanying electrical work completed. Other work has been done in the Fellowship Hall, and although there were some unexpected repairs and additional painting, it was worth the effort and the results have been beyond our expectations.
The loan the congregation committed to earlier this year was approved, and these funds will be used for the emergency lighting, drainage, and other deferred maintenance repairs that were stated in our Long Term Facilities Plan. We also received a grant from the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation that will help defray the cost of the repointing the front of the church.
We are also renovating the bathrooms. Once, the men’s bathroom in the basement of PMC was probably nice. At some point, though, the previous owners realized they needed a janitor’s sink, so they replaced a toilet with a utility sink, and before long it looked like this:
